Today, in a radio program on the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting, he also stated: Individuals without identity documents who possess a certificate of lineage or a positive DNA test to prove their Iranian nationality should visit the civil registration offices to obtain their identity cards.
Alireza Rezvani, head of the Citizenship and Refugee Affairs Office at the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also emphasized in this program that the resolution "Granting citizenship to children resulting from marriages between Iranian women and foreign men" was announced in June 2020.
Rezvani added: The Islamic Republic of Iran does not recognize dual citizenship under its law; however, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued the first identity card in the matter of granting citizenship.
It is worth mentioning that according to the head of Iran's Legal Medicine Organization, there are over 80,000 children born from marriages between Iranian mothers and foreign nationals in Iran. These children were deprived of many social and cultural rights until the citizenship grant law was approved by the Iranian parliament in 2019.
