The renovation of the "Rami" barracks, which dates back to the 18th century, has been completed and this barracks will be revitalized as a library.
President Erdoğan will inaugurate this building, which will be the largest library in Istanbul, tomorrow.
The capacity of the "Rami" library, spanning 51,000 square meters, will accommodate 4,200 people. This library, which is being inaugurated with the participation of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the President of Turkey, will be the largest library in Istanbul and one of the largest libraries in Europe.
This building was originally built as a barracks approximately 250 years ago and was used as a military barracks until the 1980s. The restoration phases of this structure had been planned after the year 2000, with actual restoration beginning in 2014.
Moreover, Osman Zorlu, the general coordinator of the "Rami" library, stated that an intensive effort has been made over the past 17 months and the library is ready to reopen; finally, tomorrow this magnificent structure will be transformed into a library.
