A 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck around 5 AM today, Monday, in Kahramanmaraş, and was felt in many cities throughout Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia.
As a result of the earthquake, several buildings have collapsed in Kahramanmaraş, Kilis, Diyarbakır, Adana, Osmaniye, Gaziantep, Malatya, and Hatay, and search and rescue efforts have commenced in areas where buildings have fallen.
Devastating news is coming in from Osmaniye and Şanlıurfa as the earthquake was extremely severe. Fuat Oktay, the Vice President, stated in a declaration: "We have 4 fatalities and 7 injuries in Hatay; 200 buildings have been destroyed. In Osmaniye, there are 20 deaths, 200 injuries, and 83 buildings collapsed. There are 13 missing in Adıyaman and 22 injured. Diyarbakır reports 14 deaths. There are 18 missing in Urfa, 80 missing in Gaziantep, 8 missing in Kilis, 10 missing in Adana, and 47 missing in Malatya. In total, we have 284 injured."
