Evacuation of 93 Schools in Istanbul (List of Schools)
The Istanbul Governor's Office announced that starting from Monday, February 20th, students from 93 schools in the city that are at risk and located in dilapidated areas will be transferred to earthquake-safe schools to continue their education.
According to the statement, within the framework of the Istanbul Earthquake Risk Management Project (ISMEP) conducted by this office, 1,418 schools built before 1999 in the city were evaluated, of which 67 schools were found to be earthquake-resistant and 1,351 were deemed at risk.
It was reported that out of the 1,351 at-risk schools, 769 have undergone reinforcement, and nearly 450 schools have been reinforced, demolished, and rebuilt by other entities and organizations, especially the Ministry of Education. Additionally, students from the 93 at-risk schools will be transferred to other schools.
