Rescue of a cat after 20 days under rubble.
A cat rescued from the rubble on the twentieth day of the earthquake is waiting for its owner. The cat, which was saved from the ruins of Malatya, affected by the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş, is eagerly anticipating reuniting with its owner.
After an assessment by the rescue team and the Malatya Municipality, it was confirmed that the owner of the cat has also survived the earthquake and is now living in the city of Izmir.
Mohammad Hanifi Akar, the head of agricultural services for the Greater Malatya Municipality, stated that along with the loss of human lives in the earthquake, animals have been trapped under the rubble as well.
Akar mentioned that they evaluated every report received and formed a special team to rescue animals trapped under the debris, saying, "This cat was brought here just like all creatures after being pulled out from under the rubble."
Just as the search and rescue teams feel great joy when they save people from beneath the debris, we also feel immense happiness alongside animal lovers when we rescue them.
Saving these animals from under the rubble gives us hope. Akar, noting that he still doesn’t know the cat’s name, said in this interview: “Let’s choose a name together; let’s call this cat ‘Noor’ (light) because I hope it will be a beacon for our new days from now on.”
