Election Day Restrictions
These days, the restrictions on Election Day have become a topic of attention.
The Supreme Election Council (YSK) announced that over 64 million voters will cast their votes on May 14. But on Election Day, will cafes, shopping centers, and recreational venues be open? As we know, Turkey will enter the presidential elections and the 28th parliamentary term on Sunday, May 14.
For this reason, the restrictions for May 14 are also a focus of attention. This election, which will see more than 64 million voters, will begin at 08:00 and end at 17:00.
After the voting process has concluded, the ballot boxes will be opened and the counting of votes will begin. According to Article 79 of Law No. 298; “On the day of voting, the sale of alcoholic beverages, as well as the serving, giving, or consuming of any type of alcoholic drink in public places is prohibited. During the voting period, all public recreational venues will remain closed. Only in restaurants that qualify as recreational venues will meals be served. On Election Day, no one may carry a weapon in villages, towns, and cities, except for those responsible for maintaining security and order.”
