Severe Rainfall Warning in Istanbul The Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) issued a warning for heavy rainfall throughout Istanbul for Saturday and Sunday. A statement was released concerning the intense rainfall that began affecting the European side of Istanbul after 2:00 PM on Thursday, and early on Friday morning, it swept through the Anatolian side.

Severe Rainfall Warning in Istanbul


The Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) has issued a warning for heavy rainfall across Istanbul for Saturday and Sunday.

A statement was released regarding the heavy rain that swept into the European side of Istanbul after 2:00 PM on Thursday and affected the Anatolian side from the early hours of Friday.

According to AKOM's data, rainfall in different areas has decreased between 20 to 220 kilograms per square meter. The highest levels of rainfall were observed in the Arnavutköy and Başakşehir regions.

The AKOM center also announced that the heavy rainfall has currently subsided and it is not expected that any serious precipitation will negatively impact daily life, except for brief showers throughout the day.

AKOM has warned of a possible intensity increase in rainfall starting tomorrow morning, stating that heavy rains could exceed 100 kilograms in the area by noon on Sunday.

The weather forecast for Istanbul today is around 25 degrees. It is expected that the weekend will be mostly cloudy with temperatures ranging from 22 to 25 degrees.
