Bombing in Ankara
Two terrorists who intended to attack the Ministry of Interior in Ankara were neutralized. A significant number of police teams were dispatched to the area. The public prosecutor’s office in Ankara has initiated an investigation regarding this incident.
In response to the sound of explosions and gunfire near the Ministry of Interior building, police forces implemented extensive security measures in the area.
Atatürk Boulevard has been closed to traffic due to the sound of an explosion near the Çankaya Gate and the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.
Special operations police also arrived at the scene. Firefighting and medical teams are present as well.
Statement from Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya
Ali Yerlikaya, the Minister of Interior, announced that two terrorists arrived around 9:30 AM in a light commercial vehicle at the entrance of the General Directorate of Security of the Ministry of Interior, where they carried out a bombing, injuring two police officers slightly.
He also added, "During this bombing, two of our police officers were injured slightly. I wish a swift recovery for our heroes. Our fight will continue relentlessly until the last terrorist is neutralized."
