The minimum wage has been set at 17 thousand and 2 lira net, with 700 lira of it being a minimum wage support that will come into effect on January 1, 2024.
Compared to the previous period, the minimum wage has increased by 49 percent. Vedat Işıkhan, the Minister of Labor and Social Security, announced the results of the efforts made by the Minimum Wage Determination Commission for setting the minimum wage for the new year during a meeting attended by labor and employer representatives in the ministry.
Işıkhan stated that the minimum wage is essentially a form of social support and emphasized that it represents the lowest point of wage policies in working life.
He underlined that the ultimate goal of the Minimum Wage Determination Commission is to set boundaries while considering the views and demands of all parties and their current socio-economic conditions. He said: "As a ministry, our primary duty in this process is to act as a mediator between employee and employer representatives. I would like to first thank all the stakeholders who carry out this process positively and with a shared basis.
With logical approaches, I would like to thank Mr. Ergün Atalay, the President of TÜRK-İŞ, and Mr. Özgür, the President of TİSK, as well as Burak Akkol and the commission members. The needs of employees and employers, considering the current conditions in our country, have reached a very logical consensus for the welfare of our employees, and I would also like to extend a special thanks to our President of TISK, Mr. Özgür, who has shown great dedication. I want to emphasize that, in addition to determining the minimum wage, demonstrating various constructive approaches for the future of our working lives is very important as it will contribute to solving social issues.”

İşıkhan thanked President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for his leadership in ensuring that citizens are not subjected to inflation, while also supporting workers, employers, and employment. He shared the following information regarding the new minimum wage: "In July, the net minimum wage was 11,402 lira, which included at least 500 lira support from our ministry.
We have now set the net minimum wage to 17,000 lira, effective January 1, 2024. I hope this will be beneficial for our country and our nation; this figure represents a 49% increase compared to the previous period and a cumulative 100% increase compared to earlier stages.
We are pleased that we have once again fulfilled our promise that our employees will not be affected by inflation with this new amount.
Our government will continue to move forward, together with workers, employers, and all our citizens, through all institutions and organizations, with determined steps and a spirit of unity and solidarity."
