Increased Supervision of the Food Industry; Over 1.3 Million Inspections Last Year
According to a report published by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, more than 1 million and 329 thousand inspections were conducted on food production and distribution units in 2024. These extensive inspections led to the imposition of 26,263 administrative fines, with the total amount of fines issued reaching 1 billion and 309 million and 748 thousand and 855 lira.
Focus on Health Supervision and Food Safety
According to information gathered from the statistical bulletin of the Agricultural Reform Administration, the ministry has continued its inspections without interruption. In the months leading up to Ramadan, these inspections intensified to ensure that citizens have access to healthy and hygienic food.
Extensive Inspections Across the Country
Within the framework of food sector inspections, a total of 75,212 official internal controls were carried out last year. During this process, 579 financial penalties were issued, and 28,813 products were confiscated. The total amount of financial penalties in this phase reached 18 million and 621 thousand and 103 lira.
2.13% Increase in Inspections Compared to the Previous Year
Published data shows that the number of inspections carried out increased by 2.13% compared to 2023. In some months, these inspections intensified significantly; for instance, in January, 83,963 inspections were conducted, while this number rose to 129,246 in May.
Judicial Action Against Food Violations
Last year, in addition to issuing financial penalties, 610 cases were referred to the Public Prosecutor's Office against violators. These measures continue with the aim of ensuring public health and guaranteeing the quality of food products.

Continuation of Inspections in the Current Year
These regulatory actions continue in 2025. In January of this year, 100,608 inspections were conducted on the food industry, during which 2,088 administrative fines were imposed, totaling 376 million and 254 thousand and 431 lira in financial penalties. Additionally, 58 serious violations were referred to the prosecutor's office.
Given the increase in violations and the importance of inspections, it is expected that this trend will intensify in the current year to further ensure food safety and protect consumers.
