Increase in Retirement Holiday Bonus to 4,000 Lira

Abdullah Güler, Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Group of the Justice and Development Party (AK Parti), announced that the retirement holiday bonus has increased from 3,000 lira to 4,000 lira.

This decision was presented to the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) as part of a bill that includes amendments to the Youth and Sports Services Law and other relevant laws. The aim of this change is to improve retirees' financial conditions and increase government support for this group.

Details of the Amendments to Retirement Laws

According to the new amendment in the Social Insurance and General Health Insurance Law, individuals who resign from their position during their presidency can receive a pension based on a specific percentage of civil servant salaries. This decision reflects significant changes in the country's social policies.

“The increase in the retirement holiday bonus to 4,000 lira is an important step towards improving the living standards of this segment of society.” – Abdullah Güler

Amendments to the Youth and Sports Services Law

This bill also includes changes to the Youth and Sports Services Law following a ruling by the Constitutional Court. According to this amendment:

  • The Turkish Ministry of Sports will train 8,000 athletes for the Summer and Winter Olympics, the Paralympics, and the Deaflympics .
  • All expenses for nutrition, accommodation, and transportation of these athletes will be covered by the government.
  • Athletes who have won medals in previous Olympic games will receive a stipend equivalent to twice the minimum wage.

Changes to the Accountants and Financial Auditors Law

According to the new amendments, the process for holding general assemblies of accounting and financial auditing organizations has been modified. Notifications regarding the time and place of these meetings will be published on the official websites of these organizations. Additionally, individuals who rent out their professional licenses to others will be barred from practicing the profession.

Increase in Transportation-Related Penalties

According to the new bill, fines for violations in the transportation sector have been significantly increased. These changes include:

  • Operating transportation services without a license: from 17,000 lira to 170,000 lira
  • Failure to register a vehicle under the transportation license: from 8,500 lira to 85,000 lira
  • Obstructing the activities of other transportation companies: from 25,000 lira to 250,000 lira
  • Transporting passengers outside designated stations: from 5,000 lira to 50,000 lira

These measures aim to increase order and safety in the transportation industry and reduce violations.

Amendments to the Turkish Wealth Management Law

In the new amendment, stricter oversight will be imposed on the performance of the Turkish National Wealth Fund. Accordingly, oversight reports will be prepared by specialized inspectors and submitted to the presidency by the end of November. These reports will be reviewed in parliament during December.

Payment of Birth Allowance

According to the new amendment, starting from 2025, all children born in Turkey will receive a birth allowance as a one-time payment or monthly until the age of five. This payment will not be subject to taxes or deductions.

Conclusion

These amendments reflect the Turkish government's efforts to improve the economic conditions of retirees, athletes, and economic sector workers. Increasing the retirement holiday bonus, supporting athletes, and enforcing stricter regulations in the transportation sector are among the significant changes that, if implemented, will have a notable impact on society.
