Transporting 4.2 Million Passengers on Istanbul Airport - Arnavutköy Metro Line in One Year
The Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, announced that the Istanbul Airport - Arnavutköy metro line managed to transport 4.2 million passengers over the past year.
Railway Length Increased to 161.8 Kilometers
In a written statement, Uraloğlu referred to the commissioning of the Istanbul Airport to Arnavutköy section of the Gayrettepe-Istanbul Airport-Arnavutköy metro line and said: "With the launch of this section, the total length of the lines we have built and put into service in Istanbul has reached 161.8 kilometers. This line has transported 4.2 million passengers within one year."
Boosting Speed and Comfort in Istanbul's Urban Transport
The Turkish Minister of Transport pointed to major projects implemented in Istanbul and added:
"We have completed and put into service for the people of Istanbul many major urban rail system lines such as the century project Marmaray, the Gebze-Halkalı suburban line, the Gayrettepe-Kağıthane-Istanbul Airport metro and the Arnavutköy section of this line, the Sirkeci-Kazlıçeşme railway line, the Levent-Hisarüstü metro lines, the Pendik-Sabiha Gökçen Airport, the Başakşehir-Çam and Sakura City Hospital-Kayaşehir, as well as the Bakırköy Coastal-Bahçelievler-Güngören-Bağcılar Kirazlı metro line."
Continuing Metro Projects on Other Routes
Uraloğlu noted the ongoing works in other metro projects and added: "The construction works are continuing in the Halkalı-Arnavutköy section of the Halkalı-Istanbul Airport line and also in the Altunizade-Çamlıca Mosque-Bosna Boulevard metro."
Reducing Travel Time to 8 Minutes
He emphasized that the Arnavutköy-Istanbul Airport metro line has reduced the travel time between these two points to 8 minutes, and said: "This line, with its four stations including Arnavutköy, Taşoluk, Cargo Terminal, and Istanbul Airport, has provided greater speed and comfort for Istanbul's urban transport."
New Record Set in February
Uraloğlu concluded by recalling that the Cargo Terminal station was opened on January 22, 2023, and the Taşoluk and Arnavutköy stations were opened on March 19, 2024. He added:
"Since its opening, more than 17.2 million passengers have been transported on the entire Gayrettepe-Istanbul Airport-Arnavutköy metro line, and on February 19, 2025, a record for the highest number of daily passengers was set with 37,843 passengers."
