Railway Traffic During the Holiday: 2.8 Million Passengers Transported
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, announced that between March 29 and April 1, a total of 2 million 876 thousand 475 people used high-speed trains, main and regional trains, and urban rail systems managed by TCDD Taşımacılık.
He added that in order to meet the increased demand from passengers, the capacity of high-speed trains, main and regional trains was increased by 12 thousand 786 additional seats.
The Minister of Transport also announced that free services were provided on urban rail systems such as Başkentray, Marmaray, İzban, and other routes during the holiday period.
High-Speed, Main, and Regional Trains
On the Ankara-Istanbul route, with the addition of 6 extra trips to high-speed trains, the seat capacity was increased by 2 thousand 466 seats. In total, 138 thousand 978 people traveled on these trains between March 29 and April 1.
Additionally, on various routes such as İzmir Mavi Ekspresi and Doğu Ekspresi, 172 additional wagons were added, increasing the seat capacity by 10 thousand 320 seats.
Urban Rail Systems
Between March 29 and April 1, a total of 2 million 600 thousand 373 people used urban rail systems such as Marmaray, Gayrettepe-İstanbul Havalimanı, and other metro lines in Istanbul.
The Başkentray trains also transported 291 thousand 312 passengers during this period.
