72% Share of the European Union in Turkey's Automotive Exports in the First Quarter
In the first quarter of this year, Turkey's automotive industry exported a total of 6 billion 893 million 869 thousand dollars to the European Union (EU) member states. With a 72.6% share, the European Union topped the list of export destinations for this industry.
4% Increase in Total Automotive Exports
According to data from the Uludağ Automotive Industry Exporters' Association and the Turkish Exporters Assembly, automotive exports from January to March increased by 4% compared to the same period last year, rising from 9 billion 125 million dollars to 9 billion 494 million dollars.
During this period, Turkey exported automotive products to more than 190 countries, autonomous regions, and free zones, and 16.8% of the country’s total exports were attributed to this industry.
13% Growth in Exports to the European Union
An overview of the export statistics shows that European Union member states remain the main destination for Turkey’s automotive exports. In the first quarter of the year, exports to these countries increased by 13%, rising from 6 billion 110 million dollars to 6 billion 893 million dollars.
The European Union continues to be Turkey’s most important automotive export market.
Germany Still the Main Export Market for Automobiles
Germany, the largest export market for this industry, imported approximately 1.5 billion dollars worth of vehicles from Turkey in the first quarter of 2024. This figure represents an 18% increase compared to the same period last year.
Increase in Exports to France and Spain
France ranks second, with exports increasing by 13% to 1 billion 102 million dollars. Exports to Spain, the fourth-largest market for the automotive industry, also saw a significant rise of 68%, increasing from 501 million dollars to 841 million dollars.
Drop in Exports to Italy
In contrast, exports to Italy decreased by 19%, falling from 950 million dollars to 772 million dollars.
Other Major Export Markets
Among other important markets, exports to Slovenia increased by 37% reaching 544 million dollars. Exports to Romania also saw a 38% increase, rising to 340 million dollars.

- Birleşik Krallık: 958 million dollars (6% decrease)

- İtalya: 772 million dollars (19% decrease)
- Slovenya: 544 million dollars (37% increase)
- Polonya: 398 million dollars (1% increase)
- Belçika: 396 million dollars (3% increase)
- Romanya: 340 million dollars (38% increase)
- ABD: 291 million dollars (5% increase)
