Is “Cranberry Sorbet” Ending? Producer Issues an Official Statement
New-Season Launch and Reactions to the Latest Episode
“Cranberry Sorbet” on Show TV, a ratings frontrunner, kicked off its new season with confidence. However, the latest episode—in which the forbidden relationship between Doğa and Firaz emerged—drew viewer backlash.
RTÜK’s Note on Complaints
Ebubekir Şahin, head of Turkey’s Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK), announced that public criticisms and incoming complaints are being carefully reviewed, and that necessary steps concerning the production will be taken swiftly.
Response from Gold Yapım
Gold Yapım released a written statement stressing that the show contains no attack or disparagement toward the institution of family or the values of Turkish society.
“We regret to have learned that, following public reactions, RTÜK has launched an investigation into ‘Cranberry Sorbet’.”
“First of all, we clearly state that, as in the past three seasons, there is and will be no attack, belittlement, or insult toward the family institution or the longstanding values of Turkish society in this season of ‘Cranberry Sorbet’.”
“We would like to note that TV series dramatize extraordinary stories and lives; therefore, what is portrayed can be highly exaggerated. Even so, we always keep in mind our sensitivity to Turkish societal values—especially the family.”
“As the Gold Prodüksiyon Yapımcılık A.Ş. family, we express our deep respect for the family institution and the traditional values of Turkish society. We will continue to approach these values with seriousness and care, and we will demonstrate the intent and will to address the negative criticisms that we receive with respect…”
“Submitted to the public’s information with respect.”
