Historic fifth gold in Singapore
Defne Kurt (Defne Kurt), Turkey’s Paralympic swimmer, continued her remarkable run at the World Para Swimming Championships (World Para Swimming Championships) in Singapore. She finished the meet with five gold medals, marking a first-of-its-kind achievement in Turkish sports history.
Final-day gold and 1:06.95
On the closing day, Kurt struck gold in the women’s 100m backstroke S10. She clocked 1:06.95 to claim another world title.
Four titles before the fifth
Earlier in Singapore, she had already won world golds in the 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle, 100m butterfly, and 200m individual medley. The latest victory lifted her total in Singapore to five.

Turkey’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Osman Aşkın Bak (Osman Aşkın Bak), congratulated Kurt on social media. He highlighted the intensity of the schedule and called the achievement historic.
