Winners announced at the 32nd Adana Golden Boll
At the 32nd International Adana Golden Boll Film Festival, the Best Film award went to “O da Bir Şey Mi.” The film is directed by Pelin Esmer (Pelin Esmer).
“O da Bir Şey Mi” collected a total of eight awards, while several other films were also honored. The closing night unfolded in a festive atmosphere as all winners took the stage.
Red carpet and ceremony hosts
The awards gala took place at the Cukurova University Congress Center, where guests walked the red carpet into the main hall. The evening was hosted by Oylum Talu (Oylum Talu) and Yekta Kopan (Yekta Kopan).
Attendees included Gungor Gecer (Gungor Gecer), Deputy Mayor of Adana Metropolitan Municipality, along with city officials, artists, and film lovers. A respectful tribute was paid to artists who passed away this year.
A message of peace, freedom and hope
Gungor Gecer said the city had turned into a true “cinema city” over the past week, with tens of thousands meeting the films and sharing the same screen. He stressed the festival’s spirit across venues and neighborhoods and underlined its theme.
He said, “We gathered under the theme of Peace, Freedom and Hope. We could not ignore the human tragedy in Gaza and the widespread forest fires. The major awards are not only for one film; they are a tribute to those who shape cinema with their labor.”
Eight trophies for “O da Bir Şey Mi”
“O da Bir Şey Mi” was the standout of the night, securing Best Film and the Adana Audience Award. The team’s presence drew strong attention.
Its haul also included Best Director for Pelin Esmer (Pelin Esmer), Best Cinematography for Barbu Balasoiu (Barbu Balasoiu), and Best Production Design for Elif Tascioglu (Elif Tascioglu). Merve Asya Ozgur (Merve Asya Ozgur) received the Turkan Soray Promising Young Actress Award, while the film earned the FILMYON Best Director Award for Pelin Esmer and the SIYAD Cuneyt Cebenoyan Special Award.
Other national competition winners
The Yilmaz Guney Award went to “Ev.” Best Screenplay was awarded to “Perde,” written by Ozcan Celik (Ozcan Celik) and Cem Zeynel Kilic (Cem Zeynel Kilic).
Best Actress was shared by Tulin Ozen (Tulin Ozen) for “Perde” and Bige Unal (Bige Unal) for “Buradayım, İyiyim.” Nazmi Kirik (Nazmi Kirik) won Best Actor for “Uçan Köfteci.”
In craft categories, Best Music for “Gündüz Apollon Gece Athena” went to Baris Diri (Baris Diri), and Best Editing for “Ev” went to Erhan Ors (Erhan Ors). Promising Young Actor was awarded to Mazlum Sumer (Mazlum Sumer) for “Cinema Jazireh,” and the Kadir Beycioglu Jury Special Award was presented to “Gündüz Apollon Gece Athena.”
Honors in short and documentary sections
Beyond the main competition, awards were presented to winners of the International Short Film Competition, the National Documentary Film Competition, the National Student Short Film Competition, and the National Short Film Competition. Laureates of the Literary Adaptation Feature-Length Screenplay Competition were also honored.
