Record-breaking cinema support in 2025
Minister Ersoy announced that the Ministry of Culture and Tourism has allocated 142.4 million lira to 24 film projects in its latest funding round. With this allocation, total public support for cinema projects in 2025 has surpassed 359 million lira, marking a new high.
The funding was distributed under decisions by the Cinema Support Board, comprised of industry representatives. It covers 9 projects in the “First Feature Fiction” category, 9 projects for “Feature Film Production,” plus 4 co-productions and 2 post-production projects.
Notable projects and leading names
Among the supported works are “Bağlılık Ayda” by Golden Bear-winning director Semih Kaplanoğlu and “Sessiz Dağ” by Cemil Ağacıkoğlu. Ağacıkoğlu’s previous film “Son Hasat” held its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.
To nurture emerging talent, the “First Feature Fiction” category provided support to 9 projects. This approach helps pave the way for young, promising filmmakers to enter the professional arena.
Animation in the spotlight
The animation segment, now a key pillar of the audiovisual industry, has advanced rapidly in recent years thanks to technological progress and ministerial backing. The board has again allocated a significant share to animated productions.
Selected titles include the new film in the Rafadan Tayfa series, “Gordion,” and the latest installment of Kral Şakir, “Dünyalar Karıştı.” Support also went to “Babamın Gölgesi 1915 Küçük Kahramanlar Geçidi” and “Umay Ana Taşların Gizemi,” both designed by debut directors.

According to the ministry, total support for Turkish cinema amounted to 284.141 million lira in 2024. In 2025, it rose by roughly 27 percent to reach 359.424 million lira.
