Muhammed Furkan Özbek Crowned World Champion
At the Senior World Weightlifting Championships held in Førde, Norway, national lifter Muhammed Furkan Özbek set a record with a 324 kg total to win the world title. He claimed snatch gold with 145 kg and took clean & jerk silver with 179 kg.

With his record total of 324 kg, Özbek became world champion and our national anthem was played in Norway.
Category and Medal Breakdown
Competing in the men’s 65 kg category, Özbek lifted 145 kg in the snatch for gold and secured the world crown with a record 324 kg total; he lifted 179 kg in the clean & jerk to take silver.
