Dispute Between Demet Akalın and Gülben Ergen Over the Thank-You List
During the opening ceremony of a new kindergarten by the charity “Let the Children Smile” led by Gülben Ergen, the names of some supporters were not mentioned, which caused discomfort and a reaction from Demet Akalın.
Opening of Narin Kindergarten in Diyarbakır
The charity “Let the Children Smile”, founded by Gülben Ergen, opened a kindergarten named Narin in Diyarbakır, in the Bağcılar district. This kindergarten was built in the courtyard of Martyr Specialist Sergeant Muhammed Serttaş Primary School.
Tribute to Narin Güran
This kindergarten was named in memory of Narin Güran, an 8-year-old girl who went missing on August 21, 2024, and whose body was found on September 8 of the same year in the Eğertutmaz River.
Demet Akalın’s Reaction to the Thank-You List
After Gülben Ergen shared photos of the ceremony on social media, Demet Akalın criticized her in a disapproving tone.
"You skipped a thank-you, dear Gülben! The Ceylan family also contributed to this project, but you didn’t mention them. This was disrespectful to the people."
Reactions from Users and Media
Demet Akalın’s statement caused social media users to be divided into two groups; some supported her, while others believed that such issues should not be raised in the public domain.
Conclusion
Ultimately, this incident once again showed that even in charitable work, personal matters and differences of opinion can affect artists’ relationships. It remains unclear whether Gülben Ergen will respond to this criticism or not.
