Today, the amount of salary increase for employees and retirees will be determined
The amount of the July salary increase for employees and retirees will be finalized today with the announcement of the June inflation rate. This increase will also affect payments related to social support allowances.
The income of government employees and retirees is determined based on collective agreements and the inflation rate. According to prior announcements, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) will release the inflation data today.
As a result, the amount of salary increase for the second half of the year will be determined for Social Security retirees (SSK), agricultural retirees (Bağ-Kur), and government employees and retirees. This change will also directly affect social support payments.
How much salary increase is expected?
Tarkan Zengin, a professor at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, said the following in an interview with TRT Haber regarding the potential salary increases:
Based on the 5-month inflation rate, the pensions of SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees have increased by 15.09% so far, and for government employees and retirees, a 14.01% increase has been recorded according to the seventh round of collective agreements.
He further added: With the announcement of the June inflation rate on July 3, the final inflation rate for the first six months of the year will be determined. This figure will define the amount of July salary increase for employees and retirees.
Estimates indicate that June inflation will range between 1% and 2%. If 1% inflation occurs, SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees are expected to receive about a 16% increase, while government employees and retirees will receive about 15%. However, if 2% inflation is recorded, the raise for SSK and Bağ-Kur will be around 17% and around 16% for government employees.
The salary increase will also affect pensions for seniors over 65 years old, home care allowances, and disability benefits.
