New claim on Mourinho meeting Benfica lawyers

Explosive allegation about Mourinho’s move to Benfica

Speaking on Beyaz TV’s Derin Futbol, analyst Sinan Engin made striking claims about Jose Mourinho. He alleged that, after parting ways with Fenerbahçe and before taking charge at Benfica, Mourinho met the Portuguese club’s lawyers ahead of their head-to-head game.

According to Engin, the meeting took place on the eve of the Benfica vs Fenerbahçe match, suggesting the exit plan had been arranged in advance. He also urged football’s governing bodies to step in.

Meeting with Benfica’s lawyers before the match

Engin claims Mourinho hosted Benfica’s lawyers at the team hotel for a private meeting. He argues the signs point to an early plan to leave Fenerbahçe.

“Jose Mourinho met Benfica’s lawyers at the hotel before the Benfica–Fenerbahçe match. The lawyers came and held a meeting. He had mapped out his exit in advance. He even booked another room... They can disclose it if they wish.”

Calls for a UEFA and FIFA investigation

The veteran pundit insisted the matter should be formally investigated. He appealed to international bodies not to overlook any potential misconduct.

“UEFA and FIFA must look into this. The whole ‘I don’t know the executive’ story and the rest were steps toward being sacked. He planned around leaving and Fenerbahçe’s elimination. He even said, ‘What are you doing in the Champions League?’”

Harsh criticism of Mourinho’s conduct

Engin also delivered a scathing critique of the Portuguese coach, claiming he could have influenced certain decisions. He cited Rui Costa and Kerem Aktürkoğlu as examples.

“If he wanted, he would have spoken to Rui Costa and stopped Kerem Aktürkoğlu from playing, because he has that kind of clout. He takes money to keep quiet — utterly vile stuff. I’m telling Turkey what kind of trickster he is. You were angry when we criticized... Fenerbahçe fans, you didn’t say a word to this man.”

None of the parties named have publicly confirmed or denied these allegations so far, and attention now turns to possible responses from Benfica, Fenerbahçe and international bodies. The claims have drawn wide coverage in Turkish sports media.
