Weather Forecast During Eid al-Fitr Holidays
According to the Turkish Meteorological Organization, most parts of the country will experience thunderstorms along with scattered showers during the Eid al-Fitr holidays.
According to Cengiz Çelik, weather forecast expert at the General Directorate of Meteorology under the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, rainfall is expected across the country from Eid al-Adha (Eid al-Fitr) until the end of next week.
Nationwide Rainfall Starting From Eid
Çelik stated that tomorrow, rainfall will be limited to the western regions only, but from the Day of Arafah for 9 days, thunderstorms and rain are expected intermittently throughout Turkey .
He added that temperatures will drop by about 3 to 4 degrees but will still remain above seasonal averages. According to him, rainfall will be particularly strong in some areas of Marmara, Aegean, Mediterranean, and Southeastern Anatolia.
Çelik also explained that in the Central Anatolia region and the coastal areas of the Black Sea, the intensity of rainfall will be relatively lower.
Strong Winds in the First Three Days
According to Çelik, strong winds are expected in some regions for three days starting from tomorrow.
"On Friday and Saturday, we expect the wind from the south to increase in the western and central parts of the country. On Sunday, southern winds are expected to prevail in the eastern regions."
Rainfall Will Continue in Three Major Turkish Cities
Çelik stated that starting from tomorrow, thunderstorms will continue in three major Turkish cities. In Ankara, the rain will begin in the evening and will continue for a week starting from the Day of Arafah.
He added: "On Saturday, rainfall in İzmir will intensify, and there is a possibility of hail, lightning, and strong winds during the rain. People should be prepared for these conditions."
Temperature Forecast in Major Cities
According to Çelik, the temperature in major cities from the Day of Arafah will be as follows:
- Ankara: between 18 to 20 degrees
- Istanbul: between 18 to 20 degrees
- İzmir: between 19 to 21 degrees
