İbrahim Hatipoğlu's Response to Acun Ilıcalı
İbrahim Hatipoğlu, a member of the Galatasaray Board of Directors, responded to the statements made by Acun Ilıcalı, the vice president of Fenerbahçe. Hatipoğlu said: "I expect Ilıcalı to explain why no red cards have been shown to Fenerbahçe so far this season."
Hatipoğlu's Statements
A member of the Galatasaray Board of Directors and Vice President of the club's sports company, İbrahim Hatipoğlu, stated in a written declaration that the recent remarks by Acun Ilıcalı are a continuation of the dirty games they have created in Turkish football. Hatipoğlu stated that Ilıcalı has focused on influencing refereeing decisions and shaping public perception, rather than focusing on real competition on the field.
Criticism of Referee Decisions
Hatipoğlu also referred to the critical Fenerbahçe - Kasımpaşa match from last season, in which the referee, using VAR, awarded a penalty that seemed more like "a feeling" in favor of the home team. He also pointed to this season's matches between Galatasaray and Hatayspor and Kasımpaşa, where referee decisions directly impacted the results of the matches.
Criticism of Fenerbahçe - Samsunspor Match
“In the Fenerbahçe - Samsunspor match, the referee unfairly sent off a player from the visiting team, and it was said that the referee ‘is probably from Galatasaray,’ and the purpose was to create a sense of ambiguity.”
Hatipoğlu also stated that he expects Ilıcalı to explain why no red cards have been shown to Fenerbahçe so far this season.
Galatasaray's Message
Galatasaray Club hopes that these dirty thoughts will disappear from football, and that peace and calm will prevail on the green fields, with competition remaining only on the playing field.
