Automotive Industry; Turkey's Leading Export Sector in March

In March, the automotive industry, with 3.5 billion dollars in exports, claimed the title of Turkey's top exporting sector. Germany, Italy, and the United States were the top three destinations for these exports, respectively.

Outstanding Performance of Automotive Exports

According to data provided by the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), in March, the automotive industry led Turkey’s export-driven sectors with exports totaling 3 billion and 517.9 million dollars.

Following that, the chemical industry and related products ranked second with 2 billion and 729.6 million dollars, and the steel industry came third with 1 billion and 549.6 million dollars.

Significant Growth in Certain Industries

The defense and aerospace industry saw the highest increase in exports among all sectors, with a remarkable growth rate of 146.9%.

General Overview of Various Export Groups

Industries under the industrial group, accounting for 81.9% of Turkey’s total exports, experienced a 1.7% increase in March, reaching a total of 16.5 billion dollars.

In the agriculture sector, which makes up 15.6% of total exports, exports increased by 2.4%, reaching 3 billion and 142.5 million dollars. Meanwhile, the mining group, holding a 2.5% share, saw a 0.4% decrease, with exports limited to 497 million dollars.

Turkey’s Export Target Countries

In March, Germany was the top destination for Turkey’s exports, with 1.7 billion dollars. It was followed by Italy with 1.2 billion dollars, and the United States of America with 1.1 billion dollars.

Leading Provinces in Exports

In terms of regional contribution, İstanbul ranked first with 8.1 billion dollars in exports. Kocaeli followed with 2 billion dollars, and Bursa came third with 1.6 billion dollars.
