Rafet El Roman: I went through a lot of hardship in the beginning
Rafet El Roman, the famous Turkish singer, spoke in an interview about the difficulties he faced at the start of his professional career. He said:
"In the early 1990s, I spent years looking for a music distribution company. Back then, it was really hard. You either had to have a manager or work with a music company to be able to release your album and reach a wide audience."
Rafet El Roman spotted in Nişantaşı
The singer was seen in the Nişantaşı district of Istanbul and caught the attention of the press photographers. In response to reporters' questions, he said that he would spend the Eid al-Fitr holiday in Germany with his family and then return to perform on stage.
A unique 30-year stage dance
Rafet El Roman, who has recently attracted attention for his on-stage dances, said about this topic:
"I’ve been dancing like this on stage for 30 years. Only recently, my knee has been bothering me a bit."
He added that his doctor also warned him about this and said:
"I see you’re dancing like crazy on stage, is it really necessary? Let me show you a new dance style."
Rafet continued:
"I won’t demonstrate it here so it won’t be inappropriate, but he said: 'Keep your foot still and just shake your hips.' That was his suggestion. I told him I’ll talk about it on stage and send him my regards."
Personal experience and support for the younger generation
This artist, while supporting young singers, said:
"When you see a beautiful voice, you can’t ignore it. I myself spent years in the early ’90s looking for a music distribution company and I know very well how hard those times were."
He continued: Today’s youth are luckier. Now there are social media, TikTok, YouTube, and many other platforms that make it easier for their voices to be heard.
"Back then, you either needed a manager or a music company to release your album and get it to the people."
A humorous response to reporters' questions
When one of the reporters pointed to Rafet's sunglasses and asked: “Do you have a hidden camera?”, Rafet replied with a laugh:
"I do, but it’s not working right now. Don’t worry, I won’t expose anyone."
He continued by saying:
"The battery ran out, it used to turn on by just pressing a button."
