Passing through highways and bridges will be free during Eid al-Fitr holidays
According to the decision published in the Official Gazette of Turkey, during the Eid al-Fitr holidays, passage through highways and bridges under the responsibility of the General Directorate of Highways of Turkey (KGM) will be free of charge.
Timeframe for implementing the free passage plan
According to this decision, from midnight tonight (00:00) until 07:00 AM on Wednesday April 2, passage through all highways and the 15 Temmuz Şehitler and Fatih Sultan Mehmet bridges will be free of charge.
Private projects are not included in the plan
According to the government’s announcement, Build-Operate-Transfer (Yap-İşlet-Devret) projects are not included in this plan and will still require payment.
Free public transportation services on the first day of Eid
Additionally, citizens will be able to benefit from some rail lines and public transportation services free of charge until 24:00 on April 1. These services include the following:
- Urban train Başkentray
- Line Marmaray
- Line İZBAN
- Rail route Sirkeci-Kazlıçeşme
- Metro Gayrettepe-Istanbul Airport-Arnavutköy
Also, municipal public transportation services and institutions operating under their supervision will be free for the public during the same period.
"Passage through the 15 Temmuz Şehitler and Fatih Sultan Mehmet bridges is free until the morning of Wednesday, April 2."
