Cold and Rainy Weather Warning for Istanbul
The Istanbul Governorship has announced that starting from Monday, April 7, cold and rainy weather will affect the city, and citizens have been urged to take the necessary precautions.
According to a statement published on the official social media account of the governorship, the General Directorate of Meteorology of Turkey has forecasted that starting from Monday, a new wave of cold and rainy weather will enter the country from the northwest (Trakya region).
Significant Temperature Drop Ahead
The statement notes that while current temperatures are around seasonal averages, starting Monday, in the cities of Edirne, Kırklareli, and Tekirdağ, and then throughout the entire region, temperatures are expected to drop between 5 to 7 degrees, and in high and inland areas even between 7 to 9 degrees below seasonal norms.
Rain and Snowfall in Istanbul
It is expected that on Monday, April 7, precipitation will continue heavily in some parts of Istanbul. The statement also added:
"On Tuesday, April 8, in the eastern part of the region, including the cities of İstanbul, Kocaeli, Sakarya, and Yalova, rain and mixed rain and snow are expected. In the event of snowfall, there is a possibility of icing, frost, and damage to agricultural products. Therefore, it is essential to closely follow the forecasts, meteorological assessments, and early warnings of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and the General Directorate of Meteorology."

Given the upcoming weather conditions, citizens, drivers, and especially farmers are advised to take preventive measures seriously to avoid possible damages.
