The series "El Turco" starring Can Yaman removed from GAİN platform after reactions to his controversial remarks
Can Yaman, the famous Turkish actor known for his roles in series such as "Gönül İşleri", "Erkenci Kuş", and "İnadına Aşk", once again came into media spotlight due to his remarks in an interview.
Yaman, who has been continuing his artistic career abroad for some time, has appeared in several international productions such as "Viola come il mare" and "Che Dio ci Aiuti".
Controversial answer to the question "Italy or Turkey?"
Recently, when asked "Italy or Turkey?", Can Yaman unequivocally chose "Italy." This answer sparked widespread negative reactions on social media, with many users viewing his remarks as contradictory to national values.
GAİN platform removed the series
Following this controversy, the GAİN platform decided to remove the series "El Turco" starring Can Yaman from its archive.
"Due to the sensitivities and values of the Turkish nation, we decided to remove the series."
In the official statement from the platform, it was stated that Can Yaman’s remarks made abroad led to various interpretations and sensitivities among the public. It was also noted that the purpose of the series was to depict the bravery, influence, and cultural richness of the Ottoman Empire in Europe, but the public perception of it was unfortunately found to be in conflict with GAİN’s values.

In the continuation of the statement, GAİN emphasized that:
"We approach all opinions and criticisms with transparency and always prioritize the values of our nation. Removing the series 'El Turco' is a decision made to preserve the trust of our audience and to continue our responsible media approach."
GAİN also emphasized that it will continue its mission in producing respectful, inclusive works that express Turkish culture in a universal language.
