The split between Özcan and his brother Ercan, who had been his manager for 22 years, led to deep family tensions. Özcan and his sister Melek Kasap filed an official complaint with the Istanbul Public Prosecutor, accusing Ercan of death threats supported by audio recordings.

In addition to personal conflicts, a financial crisis erupted as Özcan Deniz’s assets and accounts were seized due to debts he had guaranteed on behalf of Ercan. Reports state the amount rose from 40 million to 85 million Turkish liras.
