Ece Seçkin Issues SOS: “We’ve Faced Stalking and Death Threats for Four Years”
Turkish pop singer Ece Seçkin says she and her husband Çağrı Terlemez have endured persistent stalking, harassment, and death threats for nearly four years. In a social media post, she appealed to the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Health for urgent action, saying the situation has “turned our lives into a nightmare.”
Escalating Threats and Legal Steps
According to Seçkin, the alleged perpetrator—whom she describes as a schizophrenic fan who believes he is her “husband”—has repeatedly violated restraining orders, traveled long distances to Istanbul, and most recently threatened her husband near his workplace.
Released Under Judicial Control; Prosecutor Appeals
The suspect was detained and later released under judicial control. Seçkin stated that he resumed abusive messaging “the same minute,” after which the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office filed an objection and the case was referred to a higher court for review.
Highlights from Seçkin’s “SOS” Post
“For about four years, we’ve been persistently stalked, harassed, and threatened… Tonight he waited hours near my husband’s simulator program venue and sent messages like ‘I will kill you; I’m right under your nose.’”
“Despite multiple restraining orders, he keeps traveling and calling day and night… He is currently at the police station, but under the law he will soon be released.”
“Please do not release this person before placing him under control for his own safety and the public’s.”
Public Reaction and Expert Views
Her SOS post spread quickly, drawing widespread support from fans and fellow artists. Mental health experts stress the need for effective treatment and supervision in severe disorders, while legal scholars note gaps in laws covering stalking and threats that may leave victims insufficiently protected.
