Ozan Güven Breaks Silence After Final Prison Sentence
Turkish actor Ozan Güven, sentenced to 2 years and 3 months in prison for allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend Deniz Bulutsuz, has broken his silence after the verdict was finalized.
The Istanbul Regional Court of Justice upheld the ruling, making it final. Güven will serve 45 days of his sentence in an open prison, not covered by probation.
After the decision, Güven stated:
I did not beat a woman. I did not torture anyone.
He denied all allegations and insisted he was innocent. He added:
They say she was beaten for hours. You grab a woman, throw her, push her down the stairs, pour water on her. Such a man is not human. I did none of that.
Social Media Backlash
His remarks triggered backlash online.
If you were truly innocent, you would have spoken up from day one.
An innocent person doesn’t stay silent for five years.
Others mocked him, saying:
Did anyone even understand what he said? Seems like he’s acting here too.
Güven’s statement, coming five years after the case began, reignited public debate on violence against women in Turkey.
