Drug Operation Targeting Celebrities: Ela Rumeysa Cebeci, Meltem Acet and Hande Sarıoğlu Detained
In the second wave of an anti-drug operation carried out by gendarmerie teams in Istanbul, several well-known figures, including Ela Rumeysa Cebeci, Meltem Acet and Hande Sarıoğlu, were taken into custody. The detentions are part of an ongoing investigation focusing on alleged drug-related links among public personalities.
According to preliminary information, the operation is not limited to these three names. Other prominent individuals have also been referred to the courthouse to provide formal statements. No official announcement has yet been issued, while sources suggest that the scope of the investigation may expand further.
“Summoning or detaining public figures during such investigations is often part of the legal process and does not necessarily imply guilt.”
First Statement from Hande Sarıoğlu: “No need to worry, I am only going to give my testimony”
Shortly after reports of her detention emerged, Hande Sarıoğlu shared a message on her social media accounts, stating that the situation “has nothing to do with her directly” and that she is traveling to Istanbul solely to provide her official testimony.
“My family, my friends, and everyone who follows me—I'm at my home in Ankara and now heading to Istanbul. I understand the concern; many people are calling. I will go, learn the details, and give my statement. Do not trust any posts mentioning my name. This matter is unrelated to me, but I will appear to clarify it formally. Thank you to everyone who has shown concern. Do not worry; there is nothing alarming. I am simply going to provide my testimony.”
Sarıoğlu added that she will share verified updates once she receives clear information, emphasizing that many circulating online claims may be inaccurate.
