Ege Kökenli: Someone Stood in the Way of My Work
Well-known actress Ege Kökenli shared in the first episode of her new YouTube program that a casting director once blocked her from certain projects simply because she did not greet her at a party.
Kökenli now appears before her audience with her newly launched YouTube show titled “Anne Biz Egelerdeyiz”.
In the debut episode, Kökenli recalled a striking casting experience she went through years ago while working on a highly watched production. She described the incident as follows:
“One day, it was the birthday of an actor friend, and I went to attend the celebration. My friends who were there approached this casting director lady, kissed her hello, and greeted her. But I didn’t know her, and I’m not the kind of person who goes over just to flatter someone or to find out who they are. Since she was a stranger to me, I didn’t say hello. She didn’t greet me either. I wasn’t even aware of any issue at the time.”
“Work finished, and years passed. Then I started hearing from different agencies, managers, and actor friends that she claimed I didn’t greet her and had been speaking negatively about me. I even heard that a production company once wanted to cast me, but this casting director criticized me to them. I didn’t even know the woman. The only reason behind it was Ego.”
Kökenli stated that the misunderstanding was eventually resolved. She explained that she sent the casting director a very polite message through the agency and management she worked with, and the issue was cleared up.
“Later, I sent her a message explaining the situation. She said she hadn’t known the details and that she had also felt upset. In the end, the matter was closed.”
