Claims have emerged regarding the detention of Murat Özdemir, the former husband of well-known singer Ebru Gündeş. According to these allegations, Özdemir was taken into custody on charges of membership in an organized crime group.
It is alleged that the investigation is linked to a criminal organization reportedly led by Selahattin Yılmaz, a name that has previously appeared in judicial proceedings.
Journalist Shares the Allegation
Crime reporter Emrullah Erdinç shared a post stating, “Ebru Gündeş’s former husband Murat Özdemir has been detained.” According to the claim, Özdemir was taken into custody on suspicion of being a member of a criminal organization led by Selahattin Yılmaz.
Divorce Before Two Years of Marriage
Ebru Gündeş married businessman Murat Osman Özdemir in February 2024 in Dubai. The marriage lasted less than two years, and the couple divorced by mutual agreement in a single hearing on 27 September 2025.
Previous Detention in the Same Investigation
Murat Özdemir had previously been detained in August as part of the Selahattin Yılmaz Criminal Organization investigation. After completing procedures at the police station, he was referred to the courthouse and later released following his statement to the prosecutor.
According to the allegations, Özdemir acted on instructions from the alleged leader of the organization and exerted pressure on certain organized industrial zones to obtain financial benefits.

Ebru Gündeş’s private life has previously been in the spotlight due to similar legal cases. One of her former husbands, Rıza Zarrab, was arrested in the United States in 2016 on charges of bank fraud and money laundering, and later became a cooperating witness.
