Mika Raun Can transferred to women’s prison
Mika Raun Can, a social media figure, was arrested as part of a drug-related investigation and, following legal procedures, was transferred to the Marmara Women’s Prison. It was reported that Can was placed in a special ward.
According to available information, this decision was made due to specific personal circumstances, as Mika Raun Can was previously male, which led authorities to implement a different accommodation arrangement.
Police procedures completed, brought before court
Mika Raun Can was detained within the scope of a drug and prostitution investigation conducted by the Smuggling, Narcotics and Economic Crimes Investigation Bureau of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. After completing police procedures and undergoing medical examinations, Can was taken to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan.
Following the completion of the statement at the prosecutor’s office, Mika Raun Can was referred to the criminal court of peace with a request for arrest. The court ruled for detention on the charge of “facilitating the use of narcotic substances”.
Sent to Marmara Women’s Prison
After the arrest decision, it was confirmed that Mika Raun Can was transferred to the Marmara Women’s Prison and placed in a designated special ward. Authorities stated that this decision was taken in consideration of Can’s legal and personal status.
Admitted to drug use
In the statement given to the prosecutor’s office, Mika Raun Can admitted to having used drugs. In her testimony, Can said:
“I would like to state at the beginning of my testimony that approximately 20 days ago, I used narcotic substances in Amsterdam. I consumed a substance known as keten there. My boyfriend Batuhan Can also used keten with me. We have been in a relationship for three years. I regret using drugs.”
Explanation regarding controversial videos
Mika Raun Can also addressed the videos previously shared on social media that drew public attention. She stated that the pregnancy-related video was recorded purely for entertainment and that there was no intention to mock anyone or to present herself as pregnant.
“My intention was not to make fun of pregnant women or to mislead anyone. I recorded those videos simply for fun, without any specific purpose.”
Denied prostitution allegations
In the final part of her defense, Mika Raun Can categorically denied allegations related to prostitution, stating that she has never encouraged or mediated such activities at any point in her life. She emphasized that while she admitted to drug use abroad, she never organized drug-related parties in her home.
