Ebru Gündeş Surprises with Reported Performance Fee in the Middle East
Ebru Gündeş, the renowned Turkish singer, has drawn significant attention following claims about the fee she received for a concert performance in the Middle East. Gündeş shared the stage with Assala, one of the Arab world’s most powerful vocalists, at a major concert held in Riyadh, attended by approximately 15,000 people.
According to reports, Ebru Gündeş allegedly received 20 million Turkish Lira for a one-hour stage performance, a figure that has surprised many observers. However, no official statement has been released confirming or denying the reported amount.
During the evening, where Ebru Gündeş appeared as a guest performer, she and Assala performed the songs “Gönlümün Efendisi” and “Aktar” together in both Turkish and Arabic. The bilingual duet received strong applause from the audience and generated notable excitement throughout the venue.
The reported 20 million Turkish Lira fee is said to correspond to this one-hour performance. Despite widespread discussion, no formal clarification has been made regarding the circulating figure.
The song “Gönlümün Efendisi,” performed by Ebru Gündeş and written by Sıla, has resurfaced years later through this international duet. The composition of the track was created by Murat Yeter.
“If someone had told me years ago, when I wrote this song, that it would one day be performed as a duet in two languages, I probably wouldn’t have believed it. It seems it was always in its destiny. I feel proud and deeply moved.”
These were Sıla’s words regarding the revival of her song through two prominent artists performing it in two different languages — a collaboration that has brought the track back into international focus.
