Seda Sayan: Expensive Valentine’s Day Gifts Are a Waste of Money
Seda Sayan shared her views on 14 February, Valentine’s Day while appearing on the Arem & Arman programme, stating that she does not support buying expensive gifts for special occasions. The well-known artist emphasised that emotional value matters more to her than the price tag.
Sayan explained that costly presents given on special dates do not hold particular meaning for her, and that she prefers timeless and meaningful surprises instead.
“I don’t like receiving expensive gifts. It’s very difficult to buy a gift for me; I even ask my husband not to buy anything. It’s a pity — a pity for the money spent.”
The singer and television personality also noted that she does not enjoy flowers tied to specific occasions such as wedding anniversaries or Valentine’s Day. Instead, she values spontaneous gestures made without a set date.
“I don’t like anniversary flowers or Valentine’s Day flowers. It should be unexpected. A poem written for me, or a flower given when I least expect it, is far more precious.”
Highlighting her husband’s thoughtfulness, Sayan said that what truly matters to her is being remembered in the moment. She praised him for his sensitivity, adding that he makes her life easier and understands her very well.
“The fact that he thinks of me in that moment is more valuable to me. My husband is a very thoughtful man. He makes my life easier and knows me very well.”
