The court date for Halit Ergenç and Rıza Kocaoğlu has been set!
As part of the investigations related to the "Gezi Park" case, talent manager Ayşe Barım, along with actors Halit Ergenç and Rıza Kocaoğlu, appeared in court as witnesses. The date for the trial of these two actors, who are accused of giving false testimony, has been announced.
Charge of false testimony and possible 4-year imprisonment
According to the indictment, Halit Ergenç and Rıza Kocaoğlu face the risk of receiving a prison sentence of 2 to 4 years due to their contradictory statements regarding their connection with Mehmet Ali Alabora, the fugitive defendant in the main Gezi Park protest case.
The trial will be held on May 9
According to judicial authorities, the trial for this case will begin on May 9 in the 24th Criminal Court of Istanbul.
Uncertainty in the defendants' statements
The indictment examined the statements of Halit Ergenç and Rıza Kocaoğlu regarding their connection with Mehmet Ali Alabora. They claimed that they had no contact with him and only knew him professionally within the industry.
Technical reports contradict these claims
However, a review of telecommunication records shows that in 2013, 12 phone calls were recorded between Halit Ergenç and Mehmet Ali Alabora. These calls mostly took place during the peak of the Gezi Park protests.
Registered calls and meetings
According to reports, Rıza Kocaoğlu was also in contact with Mehmet Ali Alabora at that time and received a call from him on June 6, 2013, at 06:49 AM.
Face-to-face meeting during protests
In addition to the telecommunication records, published photos and evidence show that these two actors participated in the Gezi Park protests alongside Mehmet Ali Alabora in a collective march. This information casts doubt on their claim of having no connection with him.
Possible court ruling
Based on the details presented in the indictment, Halit Ergenç and Rıza Kocaoğlu may face a prison sentence ranging from 2 to 4 years on charges of false testimony.
