Dual record-breaking by Sabiha Gökçen Airport in flight and passenger traffic

Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (İSG) in Istanbul recorded a historic peak in both passenger numbers and flights during the busy Eid al-Fitr holiday period.

Unprecedented record in passenger and flight statistics

On March 29, Sabiha Gökçen Airport transported 65,864 passengers on domestic flights and 75,296 passengers on international flights, reaching a total of 141,160 passengers and breaking its all-time record.

On the same day, with 344 domestic flights and 433 international flights, a total of 777 flights were recorded — the highest number of flights in the airport’s history.

The previous record in passenger numbers was 134,289 people, and in total flights, it was 740.

Sabiha Gökçen leads among European airports

According to the January report of the "Airports Council International Europe" (ACI Europe), Sabiha Gökçen Airport earned the title of fastest-growing among major European airports with a capacity of over 40 million passengers.

With a 16.2% increase in passenger numbers in January, the airport surpassed major competitors such as London Gatwick, Rome Fiumicino, Madrid, and Paris Charles de Gaulle, securing 8th place in Europe. Compared to its performance during the same period last year, it ranked first in growth.
