Unexpected Spring Snowfall; Winter Views in Turkish Provinces

Snowy surprise in spring; many provinces turned white

In a large part of Turkey, a system of cold and rainy weather has caused a sharp drop in temperatures and snowfall. In some provinces where the temperature dropped below zero, citizens were surprised by the winter scenery.

Snowfall

Snowfall on the peaks of Kocaeli

In the province of Kocaeli, snowfall continues in the high altitudes of the Samanlı Mountains. Kartepe Ski Center and Kuzuyayla Nature Park, located at an altitude of 1640 meters, were once again covered in white.

According to the Turkish State Meteorological Service, snowfall is expected to continue intermittently in this region until Monday.

In the city center of İzmit, temperatures are around 12 degrees during the day and 3 degrees at night. Starting Monday, temperatures are expected to rise.

Çam Dağı in Sakarya covered in snow

In the province of Sakarya, the areas between the districts of Kocaali and Hendek, especially Çam Dağı mountain, were completely covered in white after overnight snowfall.

The heavy snowfall that began at midnight and continued until dawn caused the branches of trees such as pine, hornbeam, oak, acacia, and chestnut to bend under the weight of the snow.

In this area, where spring buds and blossoms had just emerged, beautiful winter landscapes have formed, which were also captured from the air.

Snowfall

Widespread snowfall in Bolu and Düzce

In the province of Bolu, snowfall mostly occurred in the highlands and summer resorts around the city. Areas affected by the snowfall include Abant National Park, Yedigöller, Gölcük Nature Park, Kartalkaya, and the Aladağ region.

In Düzce as well, especially in the district of Gölyaka, highland villages and mountain resorts such as Saçmalıpınar, Kardüz, Pürenli, Yunusefendi, Çamlıbel, and Bakacak were covered in snow.

Karabük; night rain turned into snow

In the province of Karabük, night rain in the highlands turned into snowfall. Areas such as Keltepe Ski Center, Ahmetusta Pass on the Karabük-Bartın road, the D-100 highway, and high-altitude areas of the districts were covered in snow.

According to the Meteorological Organization, with the continuation of the cold weather system, unstable weather conditions will persist in the high-altitude areas of the country.
