April snowfall in Kastamonu exceeds half a meter
In the district of Ağlı, part of the province of Kastamonu, the snow depth exceeded 50 centimeters, and in the higher areas, it approached 80 centimeters.
While snowfall continued sporadically in the city center, it intensified in the Ağlı region starting late last night, giving the area a fully wintery appearance.
With the heavy snowfall, the town center and surrounding forests were completely covered in a white blanket, and cars were buried under the snow.
Ongoing snow removal operations in the area
Teams from the Provincial Special Administration, Municipality, and Highways Department have been continuously carrying out snow removal and road clearing operations since the beginning of the snowfall.
"We usually experience heavy snowfall in the winter season in this area, and this snowfall was not a surprise for us." — Emrullah Arık, one of the local residents
Emrullah Arık, a local resident, stated in an interview that snowfall at this time of year is not surprising for the people living here.
He said: "Last year, it even snowed in May, but this year the snowfall was a bit heavier. It was nice. We’re used to it. My friend came here on holiday, and we're now clearing the snow-covered road so his car can get out."
