More Than 6 Million Passengers Used Turkey's Airports During Eid al-Fitr Holidays

Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, Turkey’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, announced that during the period from March 28 to April 6, which also includes the Eid al-Fitr holiday, more than 6 million and 107 thousand passengers were served at the country’s airports.

Air Travel Statistics During Eid al-Fitr Holiday

According to the Turkish Minister of Transport, during this period, the number of flights carried out at Turkey's airports reached 42,521. Uraloğlu, noting the annual increase in air travel, said: “During the Eid al-Fitr holiday, the total number of passengers received at the country’s airports reached 6,107,894.”

New Record at İstanbul Airport

During this period, 15,189 flights were carried out at İstanbul Airport, and services were provided to 2,313,597 passengers. On April 6, with 258,242 passengers received, the airport reached its highest daily number in 2025.

Performance of Other Major Airports

At Esenboğa Airport, 2,513 flights were operated during this period, and 382,737 passengers were transported. On April 6, this airport also broke its annual record by serving 41,577 passengers.

İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport served 316,790 passengers through 2,035 flights. On the day with the highest traffic, 35,246 passengers used this airport. Also, Antalya Airport operated 4,202 flights during this period, hosting 590,189 passengers, and on April 5 reached a daily record with 78,085 passengers.

More Than 45 Million Passengers in the First Quarter

According to Uraloğlu, during the holiday period, Muğla Milas-Bodrum and Muğla Dalaman airports operated 437 and 631 flights respectively, serving 58,486 and 83,712 passengers. Both airports reached their highest numbers of 2025 on April 6.

In the first quarter of 2025, the number of domestic flights totaled 204,856 and international flights 164,880. Including overflights, the total number reached 500,022. Also, the total number of passengers served during this period, including direct transit passengers, reached 45,175,946 people.

Statistics of İstanbul’s Main Airports

In the first quarter of 2025, İstanbul Airport recorded 25,576 domestic and 96,062 international flights. During this period, 17,961,463 passengers used this airport. Sabiha Gökçen Airport also hosted more than 10,304,000 passengers with 60,922 flights. In addition, 6,186 flights were operated at Atatürk Airport during the same three-month period.

6.1 Million Passengers at Tourism Region Airports

Uraloğlu emphasized that the total number of passengers served at airports in tourism regions included 3,604,058 on domestic routes and 2,461,772 on international routes, totaling 6,065,830 passengers.

The number of flights at these airports included 31,971 domestic and 18,136 international. During this period, İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport served 2,358,000 passengers, Antalya Airport 3,036,000, Muğla Dalaman Airport 259,000, and Muğla Milas-Bodrum Airport 297,936 passengers. Gazipaşa Alanya Airport also hosted a total of 114,221 passengers.
