Lawyer Responds to İrem Derici After Her Harsh Reaction to a Misunderstood Tweet
About a month ago, İrem Derici reacted strongly to a tweet from one of her followers after misunderstanding its intent. She later apologized, explaining that she thought the message was directed at someone else. However, her later statement claiming that “the follower’s lawyer demanded money” drew a response from attorney Alp Kemal Gözel.
The situation began when a follower wrote a well-intentioned tweet saying:
“If there weren’t a 16-year age gap between me and İrem Derici, we could have been really good friends. Such a pity.”But İrem Derici misinterpreted the message and responded harshly:
“You are probably an idiot. I don’t have time for you, but if your lawyer is good, he might get something out of me. Lifeless. Aimless. Fool. Take care.”
According to İrem Derici, she realized her mistake the next morning. She also stated that her X account had been suspended and emphasized that she had completely misunderstood the tweet. Apologizing to the follower, she added that she felt embarrassed and even asked people to help her reach the girl:
“They closed my X account, please someone contact the girl and tell her it was a misunderstanding.”
Later on, during a TV program, İrem Derici said:
“The lawyer called me and said, ‘We were offended and we want this amount of money.’”This statement prompted a response from attorney Alp Kemal Gözel, who clarified that the request delivered on behalf of his client was a legitimate legal claim.
In his statement, Alp Kemal Gözel emphasized:
“We respect your artistic identity, but this does not grant anyone the right to insult any citizen. We hereby announce that all our legal rights regarding lawsuits, claims, and complaints remain reserved.”
