İrem Derici Announces a New Engagement Date After Being Detained on Her Engagement Day
Turkish singer İrem Derici, who was taken into custody on the very day she was supposed to get engaged as part of a drug investigation involving celebrities, has now announced a new engagement date.
Derici revealed that she and her partner Melih Kunukçu will officially get engaged on February 3. She shared the news with her followers through a humorous post on social media.
In her post, İrem Derici wrote: “Please don’t detain me. You’ve already seen that I didn’t do anything wrong. Let this girl finally see a good day.”
“I’m getting engaged on February 3. Please don’t take me into custody. You’ve seen that I didn’t do anything wrong—let this girl see daylight for once.”
The post quickly gained widespread attention on social media, drawing numerous comments from followers who responded with humor and support.
İrem Derici and Melih Kunukçu had started preparing for their engagement after Derici accepted Kunukçu’s surprise marriage proposal last year.
What Happened?
On the morning of October 8, 2025, İrem Derici was taken from her home in Istanbul by gendarmerie teams as part of an investigation into allegations of drug use and encouraging substance consumption.
During the operation, 19 individuals, including several well-known figures, were taken to the Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command, where blood, hair, and urine samples were collected. After the legal procedures and testing were completed, Derici and the others were released.
Following the incident, Derici issued a public statement saying:
“If necessary, I will go from neighborhood to neighborhood and share my clean test results with everyone. I have worked very hard for this career.”
Test Results Came Back Clean
According to the official analysis, İrem Derici’s blood and hair test results were completely clean. She later shared the outcome on social media, writing: “Trust Beton Derici—my reports are clean.”
In earlier statements, Derici firmly denied all accusations and emphasized that she would never risk her professional career over such allegations.
