Demet Akalın and Blok3 Clash: “Disrespectful and Rude”
Tension erupted between pop singer Demet Akalın and rapper Blok3 after Akalın claimed that there was manipulation on digital platforms, following Blok3’s rise as the most-streamed artist in Turkey. Blok3’s response to these accusations quickly led to a harsh reaction from Akalın.
After the release of Spotify Türkiye 2025 Wrapped, which revealed that the artist known as Blok3, whose real name is Hakan Aydın, topped the list of the most-streamed artists of the year, Demet Akalın sparked a new debate in the Turkish music and celebrity scene.
“One summer day, Ebo (İbrahim Tilaver) called me and said, ‘Tomorrow we will take this artist down from the top of the list.’ How could you know the new song would be this successful? Blok3 makes good songs, but there are other things going on behind the scenes.”
These remarks quickly went viral on social media and triggered widespread reactions.
As the discussion continued, Blok3 answered journalists’ questions at Zorlu Center, stating that responding to the accusations did not suit him. He also pointed out the age difference between himself and Demet Akalın, suggesting that her inability to keep up was understandable.
“She is older than my mother and around the same age as my grandmother. It’s normal that she can’t catch up. Months ago, I was the one who brought her down from the top. She can be considered like an aunt to me, and I approach her with respect.”
Following these statements, Demet Akalın did not remain silent and responded with strong words in a post shared on her Instagram account.
“Disrespectful and rude! I don’t have your height or your fake followers. You’ll see what 30 years look like—don’t make me laugh. Shame on you!”
