Famous Oriental Dancer Asena Opens Up About Childhood Abuse
Asena, the well-known oriental dancer who is now pursuing a career in music, shared emotional details about the violence she experienced during her childhood while appearing on a television program. Her statements about being subjected to regular physical abuse drew significant attention.
Speaking on a program hosted by Uğurkan Erez and Erol Albayrak, Asena explained that she was raised by her grandmother. Although she expressed deep love for her, she revealed that she faced consistent physical punishment.
“Every Friday, I was beaten regularly. I never wanted to go home. I didn’t want school to be on holiday. Every child wished for the weekend to come, but I wanted to stay at school all the time. Being beaten on Fridays had become a rule. Rolling pins wouldn’t last on me; they would break, and money would be given to buy new ones. The neighbors even said not to waste money, so she had a cornelian cherry stick made instead.”
Reconciliation with İbrahim Tatlıses After 25 Years
Asena also addressed her reconciliation with İbrahim Tatlıses. The 25-year-long estrangement between the two public figures came to an end on the program İbo Show.
When asked how she felt about meeting İbrahim Tatlıses again after many years, Asena responded:
“What I felt is something I will keep to myself. The reason I went on that show was to free myself from my burdens and to close old accounts. I am not resentful toward anyone, and I am not competing with anyone.”
