The blaze, which occurred on April 28, 2023, left a lasting mark on public memory due to the scale of destruction it caused.
The fire, which erupted in the block where Tatlises’ apartment was located, was brought under control only after approximately eight hours. The incident left many apartments uninhabitable and caused significant structural damage.
“My Youth and My Awards Burned”

“If our house burned, that would be fine. My youth burned. The awards I received over 45 years, the plaques I earned after being a top taxpayer for five years — they all burned.”
