Ibrahim Tatlises Reveals He Was Defrauded of $4 Million
Turkish music icon Ibrahim Tatlises (İbrahim Tatlıses) has revealed that he was the victim of a $4 million fraud, speaking candidly from his home in Izmir. During the interview, he also reflected on past experiences of disloyalty and addressed family tensions, while noting that his apartment, previously damaged in a fire, has now been fully renovated.
Tatlises made the remarks on the television program “Pazar Gezmesi,” broadcast on Kanal D and hosted by Asiye Acar. Opening the doors of his Izmir residence to the cameras, he explained why he left Istanbul and described the process of relocating.
“I Was Defrauded of $4 Million”
Explaining his decision to leave Istanbul, Tatlises said:
“I experienced disloyalty.”
He added that even after moving to Izmir, he did not find complete peace, revealing that he had fallen victim to a major fraud scheme. According to the artist, the incident resulted in a loss of $4 million and has since made him more cautious in his dealings.
Speaking about his outlook on life, he stated:
“I am compassionate, but my conscience does not allow certain things.”
Emphasizing his resilience, Tatlises added:
“My money does not run out — it only decreases.”
Criticism Directed at Relatives and Children
Tatlises also addressed family grievances, saying:
“They say what a relative does to a relative, even a scorpion would not do.”
He claimed that his son, Ahmet Tatli (Ahmet Tatlı), sold five apartments in Manisa but did not share the proceeds with his siblings.
Regarding his daughter Dilan Citak (Dilan Çıtak), he said:
“When she is in trouble, she says, ‘I am Ibrahim Tatlises’s daughter.’ When she is not, she says, ‘I do not know him.’”
Fire at Residential Complex in Narlidere, Izmir
A fire broke out due to an electrical fault at a luxury residential complex in Narlidere (Narlıdere), Izmir, where Tatlises owns an apartment. The flames quickly spread to Block 3, and explosions were reported.
The fire was brought under control after approximately eight hours. Of the 168 apartments in the complex, 40 sustained significant damage, while the units in Block 3 became completely uninhabitable.
“I Was Saddened by the Loss of 15 Containers of Pickles”
Tatlises noted that he was in Istanbul at the time of the fire and was therefore not directly affected. He confirmed that his apartment has since been fully restored.
However, he said what upset him the most was the destruction of 15 large containers of pickles. Speaking about his fondness for pickled foods, he highlighted the variety of pickles, turnip juice, and healthy items kept in his kitchen.
