Hakan Sabanci Detained in Drug Investigation
As part of a drug investigation targeting celebrities, detention warrants were issued for 16 individuals. 14 people have been taken into custody, with Hakan Sabanci (Hakan Sabancı) from the Sabanci family being among those names.
In the latest wave of the investigation led by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, business figures Fikret Orman, Burak Elmas, Hakan Sabanci, and Kerim Sabanci (Kerim Sabancı), along with models Didem Soydan and Guzide Duran (Güzide Duran), were detained. A detention warrant has also been issued for actress Hande Ercel (Hande Erçel) as part of the same case.
Known for His Private Life
Hakan Sabanci, the son of Omer Sabanci (Ömer Sabancı) and Arzu Sabanci (Arzu Sabancı), returned to Turkey after completing his economics education in the United States. In addition to his business activities, he is a prominent figure in the media due to his personal life.
Former Partner of Hande Ercel
Hakan Sabanci is the former boyfriend of famous actress Hande Ercel. Sabanci and Ercel ended their nearly three-year relationship in August 2025. Following the unexpected breakup of the relationship, which was widely expected to lead to marriage, Sabanci's name has been linked with various other individuals.
Statement from the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office released a statement regarding the operation:
"An investigation has been initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for the purpose of protecting general public morality, social structure, and family order. Based on the evidence collected, detention orders were issued for a total of 16 suspects for possession of narcotics for personal use or facilitating the use of narcotics."
The statement further detailed the police action:
"Teams from the Istanbul Narcotics Crimes Branch conducted simultaneous operations at 16 addresses to apprehend the suspects. 14 suspects were detained, while arrest warrants were issued for 2 suspects. The investigation is being conducted meticulously and from all angles."
